How to participate? You can register to take part in the London Marathon 2021 from 8 October 2020 at 18:00 Italian time, until 9 October 2020 at 17:59.

If you are entered into the lottery or have a guaranteed place you will be sent an email with a link to proceed to payment.

The lottery
The lottery is a system that randomly draws participants from all those who apply.
The results of the 2021 lottery will be announced on 8 February 2020.
Guaranteed entry
To be guaranteed entry you must meet one of these requirements:
be a British athlete with a minimum qualifying time;
be a registered athlete for a British club associated with British Athletics;
have cancelled participation in the previous year’s London Marathon in accordance with the guidelines provided by the organisation;
have participated in all three London Classics.
The qualifying time
6,000 UK resident athletes (equally divided between 3,000 men and 3,000 women) who have achieved the qualifying time are eligible. Unfortunately, unless you reside in the UK, you will not be able to enter by qualifying time.
Due to the high demand for participation, times are often lowered considerably, which is why for the 2020 marathon the qualifying times have been lowered by 2 minutes 40 seconds for men and 4 minutes 15 seconds for women.
Qualifying times for the 2021 marathon must be obtained between 1 January 2019 and 4 October 2020.
You can register in this way from 4 November 2020 until 16 November 2020 at 15:00 Italian time.
Please note that the reference age is the age you will be on the day of the marathon and that having obtained the qualifying time does not guarantee you participation in the event.
Running for a charity
In the UK there is a very strong theme of charity, many runners are committed to collecting many donations for charity to run the marathon. A list of charities can be found on the event website. For most associations you will need to set a goal and raise a lot of money.
Rely on a tour operator
Contact an international marathon partner who will offer you a package that, in most cases, includes flights, accommodation and a race number. You can find the official partners on the event website.
